THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

i walk in darkness
looking for something
for my lonliness
for
every dark step
i
take
everything
seems
to be
worsening.

i get on my knees
and
pray that my pain
leaves
endlessly
i pray
for the darkness to
end
and
the lonliness to leave me.

my eyes open
and i see the light
coming for me
to cover me with
love
never leaving me
taking away all the
loneliness
and
pain.

now
i have found
the light
in the
darkness
and
i thank
you.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
