    The Lover

    The lover touches me
    Suddenly I live - Sensitive -
    She makes me, perfectly,
    Finally loved.
It must be her greatest gift
    Her fine and tender mercy
    Pouring her anointing oils
    Over me - mingling deep
    Such wonders, mystery's moments
What dreams may give, and where
If only real, they'd let me know
Of when I would be loved
And should I, should I, tell her
    Could I - reach her
    So she would know
How her touch - Moves me so?
Not yet, or else I'd risk
    My truest joy, for now
    Of feeling in the moment,
    As if, as if
    So loved.

    Very well done.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
