The Man Whom God Forgot…

The Man Whom God Forgot…

There is a man whom God forgot
A soul lost from His memory
He exists in His blind spot
This is why he wanders eternally

He does not belong to heaven
He does not belong to hell
Him, neither can claim
For they do not know his name

I met him one starless night
In a cold winter's dream
He walked up to the fire
And sat across from me

I could not focus on his face
Shifting with the flame's dance
Ebony pupils remained clear
In new colors of brilliance

He spoke, "So you sit before me
A lost expression in your eyes
Yes, I do know the secret
The mystery and meaning of life

I can fill your bending ears
Full of cryptic truths and lies
But what I say or you think you hear
Will not change that look in your eyes

But you do have questions tonight
You have one less day in your life
One less day to make things right You've just spent another day in paradise

You still believe in happiness
And you still believe in love
You have sent your prayers skyward
And received nothing but quiet from above

It may seem very strange
But silence is an answer unto itself
You must learn your own life
Walk the road by yourself

Go ahead, send your prayers outward
But your answers will come from within
It is all in the perception of your mind
The voice of God speaks from within

Love and happiness are phantoms
Living in the corner of your sight
You are fortunate if they touch you
A feeling as fleeting as twilight

I once knew the taste of rain
And the spaces in-between
I once lived a tender touch
And I used to have a dream

Others can remove what you call your own
But you do deflect the wind that blows
As you do reflect the light that glows
You are responsible for your own soul

Take the time to taste the rain
And recall a forgotten face
By remembering a lost name
You have justified their eternal place
And you, God has not forgotten
You are not beyond salvation
Beware, Satan has his eye on you
You are not beyond damnation

You can get by quietly
And manage to survive
Or you can rise above the crowd
Either way, you are alive

Though you may feel all alone
There is only one who is on his own
But you will exist in the eternal frame
If even one remembers your name"

He arose next to the fire
And became the smoke of Good-Bye
He allowed the breeze to take him
And I was left to live or to die

Of all the billions of lives
He lived his in anonymity
His soul slipped through the cracks
Save for one, he did it anonymously

Yes, I will endure the fire
And taste the falling rain
And I will attempt to know
Those spaces in-between

There will be love and hate
Joy and sorrow in my life
But for now
I have just lived another day in paradise
And I will remember
Your face and name
Maybe, one day, for me
You will do the same
