The Other Guy
I was at that church,
Invitation wanting,
Ability to let go lacking.
Figured I'd come in ,
Sit for a while.
Then I saw him.
The guy standing in my place.
A smile on his face,
I tried so hard to hide my eyes.
I imagined this moment,
Inside of my head,
Giving reasons
These two should not be wed.
Except it was him in this pew
Watching tears he would spew
As he kissed my bride goodbye.
Now it is me they see,
Sitting here as I cry,
The loser -the other guy.
Invitation wanting,
Ability to let go lacking.
Figured I'd come in ,
Sit for a while.
Then I saw him.
The guy standing in my place.
A smile on his face,
I tried so hard to hide my eyes.
I imagined this moment,
Inside of my head,
Giving reasons
These two should not be wed.
Except it was him in this pew
Watching tears he would spew
As he kissed my bride goodbye.
Now it is me they see,
Sitting here as I cry,
The loser -the other guy.
