The Silent of the Night

The Silent of the Night

An owl hoots in a tree
Mice run by...one,two,three
The stars twinkle bright
The only light in the night
The full moon is directly overhead
In the beauty of the night, I don't even think about bed
The winds blow by
Rustling the leaves low and high
The trees whistle a happy song
The birds asleep in them all night long
But above all this...sound and sight
The beauty and silence of the night

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
