Thin Air

Thin Air

Just wish the world would disappear
oh but not for the reasons your normally hear
life was on track, jobs a blast
all is ideal from the outside looking in
but upon searching within myself
I now fear there is something more
someone more to fill this previously unknown void
now that I've been made aware
I'd like to fulfill whatever should be there
I'm not complaining, 'cus I don't have it bad
for all I knew about life and work
was the few encounters I'd had
--
so explain away
why i don't enjoy my days
in this so-called picture perfect world
why have you come to save me
from these doldrums I occupy
I thought I was fine and getting by
when in you sweep
and without warning I'm off my feet
eyes open wide
heart and soul bursting
all my perfect bows have come untied
--
everything is different
a new, fresh perspective
wrap your arms around me tight
'cus everything isn't alright
I'm more than attracted to you
completely overtaken by emotion
you mesmerize me
just being the man you already are
and I want nothing more
now I beg you, rescue me
take me far away from my reality
to bathe in this dream that is you
--
I love you so
but soon you'll have to go
Floating away as fast as you swept in
no one's made me feel this way
stronger than ever before
and completely helpless all at once
Ease my mind with your lips
on mine this one last time
losing this is all I fear
so hold me closer
and maybe the rest of the world will just disappear
--

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
