    Thoughts of Mother

I wrote this poem in Sept. of 2008 in memory of my mom. It was read at her memorial.

    A mother has
    a special love,
    a love that is
    never unforgiving.
    She holds you close
    when you need it most.
    She pushes you on
when she knows you can do better.
    Does she push you away?
    Never.
    Does she pull you close?
    ALWAYS.
    A mother's love
    will never die,
    for in our hearts
    she will live on.
    Thoughts of mother
    will play through our minds,
    until the end of time.
So, in our hearts and minds,
    she will live on,
as long as we are alive.
And then the day will come,
that we all meet in heaven,
and the sorrow we once felt
will be long gone and forgotten.

I know the unbearable pain of losing your Mother; Mine passed in 2004 and it still hurts so much when I allow myself to go there...thanks for sharing.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
