Tonight I Must Put Out the Fire
Tonight I Must Put Out the Fire
( Joseph J. Conte 01/13/2009)
As I stare at the flames, rising from the logs in my fireplace,
I am mesmerized by visions, of a lovely sweet smiling face.
Wisps of hair swaying cross the forehead, shimmering in the light,
Lips that are small and inviting, and dimples declaring its alright.
The warmth from the burning logs, is increasing my desire,
And the dreamy lover dancing in the flames, is setting me on fire.
I reach for her in my dreams, and we dance in between the flames,
I can touch her only briefly, as she spins and plays her games.
As she jumps, twists, and turns, her body moves are spirit like,
A sight to behold, she is lovely and soft, like a new born tyke.
She stands on the tip of a flame, gathering the spirits of Chi,
Moving gracefully through Qigong, and motions of Tai Chi.
Oh! fool that I am, I dream of an angel, a spirit to me,
My mind is corrupted, all cloudy and fuzzy, you see.
So tonight I will put out the fire, and retire to sleep,
Pull up the covers, close my eyes, and count sheep.
