    True Friend

I SIT HERE ALONE ONCE AGAIN
    WONDERING TO MYSELF
WERE YOU EVER MY TRUE FRIEND?
YOU'VE WATCHED ME STRUGGLE IN TEARS AND PAIN
WHY DOES IT ALWAYS SEEM YOUR GAIN?
AS I SIT HERE AND I CRY I WONDER-
WHY ARE YOU NOT HERE BY MY SIDE TO COMFORT ME IN MY TIME OF NEED?
BUT, INSTEAD YOU STAND HERE WITH YOUR HAND OUT IN GREED
    I GIVE AND GIVE
    BUT NEVER GET IN RETURN
I SOMEHOW FEEL I JUST GOT BURNED
MY PAIN IS NOT OVERBUT SOON IT WILL END
    SO TELL ME DEAR ONE-
WERE YOU EVER MY TRUE FRIEND?

I LOVE POEMS ABOUT FRIENDSHIP.BECAUSE USUALLY FRIENDSHIP IS SO TAINTED. THATS WHY U MUST WATCH WHO U ACTUALLY TRUST. "WHY DOES IT ALWAYS SEEM YOUR GAIN?"...THATS MY FAVORITE LINE. I LIEK THIS POEM THOUGH SERIOUSLY...ITS RIGHT TO THE POINT... -LADY P

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
