Unrequitted Love
You left me now for good- not going where you wanted to; Arriving at your destination in such an untimely manner-------------I don't have the plan- I know God does though. Heartache- Disappointment- Anger and tears- were all I had to await me-The fears_Unfairness of it all_ The selfishness of wanting you back_The suppositions of shoulda, woulda, couldas if I had not stood my ground, and let you break me down- Just one more time- On your terms, not mine--But I had to firmly plant my intuitions and convictions in my gut, my love of self- Deeper rooted in the grounded depths of my heart, and so-Here I am-ALONE--------Without you The waiting was, and will always be the hardest part- To have to see you- Just one last time and KISS you goodby thru salted tears that carressed down your forehead, your cheek, your empty cold-chilled vessel- that you had left 16 days before. Before I could stop the erase of your voice from my message machine-To reach you- Just a moment sooner. Yes, you came to me one week later- But too soon- my love- I was still consumed with the anger of your departure. But the shock subsided- and tears of grief replaced disbelief- Receptive to your signs of acknowledgement and love------------ Now I play the waiting game- For I must go on- Til I see you once againUnrequitted Love
