    We begin our days with a sigh;
    some of us even cry.
    We end our day with a groan;
    we weep and we moan.

    It is rare that things go how we plan;
    of this, I am not a fan.
    Why can't we have what we yearn for?
    Why must we feel so emotionally poor?

    They say this is life, but I do not recall these stories from my childhood;
    the stories my grandmother told as she sweeped and stood.
    She told of love and happiness and death and loss;
    but not of depression and how people instigate anger, no matter the cost.

    We should need not begin our days with a sigh;
    we should not cry.
    We should go to bed with our loves and a smile;
    who knows; this could work for a while.
