    The time has come,
    it is here and
    fear is with me.

    Fear that your going
    means goodbye.

Fear that I will fall apart
    after you are gone.

    Fear that you
    will fade away
    into a memory.
    I don't want the
    memory of you,
    I want you.

    Please,
    don't kiss me goodbye,
    just kiss me.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
