Was It Worth It?

Have you ever woken up and thought
"This is my life"?
Have you ever looked back and wondered
"What was I thinking"?
Have you ever looked forward, and questioned
"What next"?
If you have, then welcome.
Welcome to being an adult,
Welcome to my world.
When you look back and wonder
"What was I thinking?"
Just look around at what you have
And realize that you wouldn't have most of it
If you hadn't done what you did.
When you start to question
"What next?"
Look at your family and friends,
Look into your children's eyes.
If you can see the future through them,
Then you are set for life.
So, when you start to think,
"This is my life."
Pause and reflect how you got there,
And where you want to go.
If you can't see yourself where you want to be,
Then do something to change it.
Don't whine about everything that's happened to you.
Whining doesn't do any good.
Crying even less.
But purpose will be your guide.
Let yourself dream,
Let yourself go.
Follow your heart.
Otherwise, when you're old and dying
You'll always wonder,
"Was it worth it?"
