Water

Water

You are a well in the desert

And I am a drop of water.

I fall into you, after
These parched years.
A weakened husk
With dust on my cheek.

I wandered away from love
When it neglected me.

Its embrace as dry as bone dust;
Its speech a thin and hollow sound.

When people look at me and say,
A fallen woman
Who left her toiling husband.

I ask them,

Can you blame the river
For seeking out the ocean?

I am a drop of water,
And into you I fall.

Into you, I thirst.

This is a great poem! I can see her seeking out the ocean, especially if she was bone dry in the desert! Loved it!

I have shivers down my spine from the emotional and creative depth of this perfectly structured, perfectly delivered masterpiece. Bravo!!
