    WHAT’S THE PURPOSE

The sun glares off the running waters in the river

The shadows hide the creatures from the sun lighted rays

Turtles swim in no direction that they can follow

I sit and watch nature from my porch all alone

Show me a reason for their life’s purpose

every creature had a purpose in life

Though I will probably never see the answer

I watch them in the day or in the darkness of the night

As they all move about in cautious cares

Everything has a story to tell us

I search and try to listen for the signs

On the surface all seems well or fine to me

But the key to life is still missing

What is the purpose? Life’s purpose

    What is your life’s purpose?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
