When Life Gives You Scars, Pass Them On

I came into your life
a cascade of lonely lies searching for the truth in myself.
I found ultimate truth lying dormant in you.
I leeched off you for air and gravity,
to keep me alive and in reality.
I lost your stability when you sacrificed it
for your old life support.
It's okay; everyone has a weak moment.
But one day she failed you,
and again I leaped from the dark abyss of self-deception
into your supportive arms.
But before I could latch onto you,
I had to clear your mind of my deceit.
Before I got to the point where I couldn't bring myself to hurt you,
I needed to bring you into my reality.
Your heart cracked at my words,
and I knew that I had carried you as you had cradled me.
The tears of my open sins removed a tainted mark from my brow,
and I became healthy and right again.
But to have cleansed my path
I had to leave a scar across your eye,
crossing your vision with paranoid imagination.
Please forgive me for this selfish act.
But I promise you, one day you will be able to see the truth again, too;
one day you will understand.

This is beautiful! It is wonderful how you paint the picture of past transgressions and the deeds done to correct it.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
