Whispers and Starlights

Whispers and Starlights

Sometimes lives are taken
and we don't know how or why,
we just know that heaven is opened
for us to join God in the sky.
And sometimes we are left behind
as loved ones go ahead,
feeling sad and lonely
as we face the days with dread.
But what we must remember
is that our loved ones never leave,
they are with us in our hearts
supplying all our needs.
They are the whisper in the wind
and the starlights in the sky,
They are the shadows in the sunshine
because their spirits never die.
And even when we feel alone
if we look for signs each day,
we will see that all those loved ones
have surely passed our way.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
