Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem for my son, Scott who was 6 yrs old when he became ill. He would always ask me why. I did'nt know the answer, The only thing I could say is that God loves you so very much. He grew to understand. Now he is a man, fighting for his life knowing that God loves him, and doesn't need to know the whys.

WHY

Do you ever wonder why?
We are suppose to have a piece of the American pie.

Tragedy strikes or illnesses become apart of our lives.
Who cares, you say, everyone seems to say their goodbyes.

Why me? I wonder why.
I feel bad inside and start to cry.

Then, I see beyond myself,
I do have all the wealth.

It is not the piece of the American pie,
It is something inside myself, I sigh.

It is God who has made me, and all that I am to be,
Even He directs the path I am to go, you see.

Is it the piece of the American pie I should really care?
No, it is the love between God and I we share.

Now I do not have to think to wonder why.
I wee clearly now that the why's and American pie are like the big blue sky.

They are all apart of our lives, but one thing for sure,
God and I are part of the cure.
