    Would You?

Would you wipe my tears if they were falling down my face?
Would you catch me in your arms if I collapsed during a race?
Would you hold my hand if I were afraid of the dark?
And would you be there to help mend my broken heart?
Would you come to my rescue when I appeared to be in danger?
Would you be there to calm me down if my tone had the slightest sound of anger?
Would you pull my head to your shoulder if I were crying or in pain?
And would you always be there for me if there were nothing for you to gain?
Would you take me to the park if I were bored out of my mind?
Would you get me three types of candy if you didn't know my favorite kind?
Would you look me in the eyes and tell me the honest truth?
And would you let me get close to your heart if I fell in love with you??

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
