Your Way

What do I have to do to get you to see?
My heart is aching to all of this but somehow you always seem to manage
You just don't know the extent of the damage your pain has done
Just so long as when things are happening it's all for you
Don't go on pretending as if you're ever really concerned
Maybe for once upon a time
Now it's much easier to forget all the rest
Time will heal our wounds
So you won't have to care who you hurt to get there
Eventually in the time it takes you to decide on anything
The worthy things in life are going to leave you behind
If you choose to stay this way then someday it's only gonna backfire
Boy, it's gonna throw you to the ground
One day this master plan of yours will explode in your face
Then again I forget you're never the one to pay the price
No need to worry about making a sacrifice
The world gives you a slap on the wrist and sets you free
But what would you do if all of sudden the ones who meant anything
Just forgot about you

I suppose living in your shoes it would all stay the same
Snap your fingers and the next ones walk in to take our place
Must be so nice to pick ‘N choose the way you do
It must be great having a heart that changes day by day
So easy to detach yourself from having to stay
Always got that trouble-free stride
You know how it goes
What goes up must come down and when you finally fall
You better hope they haven’t set up any landmines
‘Cause baby someone may just blow you up
Yeah even blow your mind but then what comes next
What will you do
When boredom sets in your head again
That’s right…no one will ever catch you so go ahead and do what you do
It's just like you to duck and run
No reason to commit
Just quit when it all gets too hard
Go to your friends cause they always got your back and share a laugh at our expense
Some of us are so dumb and naive
Guess maybe in a sense that’s true
I was one of the one’s silly enough to believe you
You ought to come with a warning sign my darling
At least then before we travel down your road we’ll be warned of the “work ahead”

Thought you had me fooled didn't you
Thought you were so damn clever that I'd never figure you out
Always falling in puddles for that charming baby face and false I love you’s
For all I’ve ever done and all I’ve ever tried to show
I still wasn’t aware of the footprints on my back
Somewhere along the line I became your doormat
Well “Welcome Home” my love
Sometime we all have to become a little wiser and baby I’m on to you
You got all you could have ever wanted and threw it all away
Despite the imperfections that make us who we are
I've taken the punishment for my mistakes
At least I made the attempt to turn them back right side up
My effort just isn't enough for someone like you
Neither could you return it
But I bet witnessing my struggle was the most entertaining part for you
Now you’re through, you’re done and tried leaving me a place with rejection
Set my heart a blaze in exchange for the ashes in my hands
That's a "no no" baby
No more, not today cause I’m looking at what’s ahead
I won't be the one throwing my apologies this time
All because you couldn't survive who I am

I can’t take this whatever kind of world you call it
The one that turned you into that self-seeking king
Too bad no one can catch sight of just how fake your back drop is
As long as you’re in power it made a ruler out of you and a joke out of me
Now all you need is your queen to be complete
Find yourself another puppet and go on and pull her strings
She won’t know any better than to follow you
Unless she turns out to be your absolute craving
She’ll just end up like me and at your feet every time you're in need
But there’s no reason for you to worry about me
You made your point when you tossed me over the edge
That’s if you couldn’t tell I went missing
But I’m sure that thought doesn’t even cross your mind
My face has aged too deeply for you to detect when it’s vanished
Your heart's already moved on and I wish you both the best of luck

Through all these crazy moments I see that durable guy I know
The untouchable one who can't be defeated
Thinking he's beaten out the competition
Yet you won’t uncover anyone else quite like me
But maybe in your case that’s part of the luxury
I may have been real hard with you but I guarded you, stood by you
In all only cause I loved you
And now what will you do
When the one person who took it all for you
Was the one to always give out to you my offerings
Finally knows what it’s like to fit in the same emotional position you do
Tall and strong cause I always knew what I was aiming for
My target was to win you over but I lost the game and now there isn’t much more to say
But something tells me that to you it still just all stays the same
