A Pessimist or an Optimist?

A Pessimist or an Optimist?

When you hear a siren
what is it that you say?
“Someone’s really needing help”
Or “help is on the way“?

When you see a baby bird
what visions do you create?
“Oh, so small and helpless”
Or “Someday he‘ll sing great!”

If you see a brand new car
what thoughts do you define?
“Too big, too expensive”
Or “Someday that’ll be mine.”

Think about your mindset,
how you go through life each day.
Are you the pessimistic sort?
Or is optimism your way?

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
