“A Broken Heart and a Single Rose”
No more looking back on what could have been….or asking what if? Or do you remember when? This heart of mine has been torn in two…but looking back is something I can no longer do. Looking only head even though it’s tough….I gotta stay on this path…even though it’s rough. But no more…..no more…no more….looking back.
I place a rose on her porch so quietly, walk away breathing deep, crying silently.
I don’t look back like so many times before, not looking back anymore.
Not looking at the light coming from her room, looking forward at the empty street that feels like a tomb.
It’s cold, it’s dry, not a single star in the sky….never again will a tear drop from my eye.
No more keeping myself down, no more waiting to hear the sound…..
…of her voice, and this is being done by my choice.
I’ve gotta be better off this way….looking toward tomorrow…and not back on yesterday.
No more looking at the picture on my wall, or sitting by the phone…hoping for her call.
All I can say is that I tried my best…and that this was all just another test…
….of my heart and of my will to move along…no more talking about how she did me wrong.
No more looking back on what could have been….or asking what if? Or do you remember when? This heart of mine has been torn in two…but looking back is something I can no longer do. Looking only head even though it’s tough….I gotta stay on this path…even though it’s rough. But no more…..no more…no more….looking back.
