    “Our Body and Cars“

    Our body and cars,
    when each is new.
    Often run great,
    without residue.
    But as years go by,
    and parts start to fail,
    The car will break down,
    the body grows frail.
But give thanks to our doctors,
    and mechanics on call.
    For fixing our engines,
    when age makes them stall.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
