Poem Commentary

To my best friend whom I miss so much, it has been two weeks now and no one has heard from you...may your addiction fall to the fires of your wild heart to do the right thing...come home, we miss you

Addiction a treasonous Affair...

Woe to tormented addiction
As it petitions the mind to such affliction, Ignore all reasoning left before diminishing
The mind warrants balance in completion
Whether crack, heroin, or meth in deceiving
One hit can send the mind into remission
Hooked to the spiders, a fly for its feeding
Sucked dry your personality's shifting
Shifted as you lose all self to the condition
I never been there, but this is my understanding
Wandering lost in the void of your empty surrounding
True it comes down to choice and your decision
But how so epically one falls to this dimension>
Addiction, so tragically heartfelt
My skin melts in thoughts of tales to the felt
Carpet burns, I wept
My prayers to God kept
listless entities conquered by death
Falling to addiction,  I hate this in depth
taking one's soul, a memory in effect
As I slept on my wishful thinking in steps
I climbed the highest ladder in simple intercept
The soul that hoisted away by crack
I reached out to save, only burned in my trek
Tumbled I fell to the ground a splattered mess
For the love I feel is not so easily missed
True I have not gone through this I confess
But I feel every minute of her pain I collect.
My friend, my friend I miss you so much
I hope one day you shall call, reach, touch
Your broken promises as addiction erupts
The depression that you feel, please turn away, you must...

Powerful well crafted the title is great. I appreciated the way you expressed your dislike for addiction but at the sometime were able to display sympathy for your friend and a great deal of insight about the power of addiction. Good Job. Peace

damn dream, if i didn't know any better I would think you existed in my head at times, this poem is remarkable, how could I have missed out on this before. Your way with words and rhyme are all too fluid, not to compare you with myself, but I see nice similarities, I think If I was to write a poem about addiction it would be much like this, at least I would hope so. I all to familiarize with this piece, I too have lost a friend to addiction, it is a tough road to search for a fruitive finality that is favored by self. I truly loves this...faved

Well I can safely say you were kind an inspiration in the style I wrote this poem in, not your latest works obviously but the old ones. Just free verse blended with lyric intent and content that is equally as piercing, for you to say what you did, confirms to me that I used your influence correctly or atleast close, hard to reach your level lol. But this is a sad poem and it sucks to lose a friend to drugs, all one can do is pray and hope all goes well at the end of the road

the sympathetic empathy expressed in an almost prayer-like plea for peace for a friend was beautifully expressed. The metaphors used were very nicely written, I loved the imagery you painted. A couple typos, but when aren't there? You're strongest point is definitely your imagery... You did a very good job with that.

thank you jade once again...this poem was not very much fun to write for I know you can imagine the state of mind I was in at the time, but it was a necessary evil to break the habit of my wandering mind...

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
