as silence was bestowed upon me
No leaves russtle around
no trees sway heavy above
no whistling of the angry wind
no movement, only silence.
No traffic from the consant moving feet
the streets empty for miles
no talk of the town
nor a single soul near to be found.
And silence was bestowed upon me.
No lovers whispers heard
no sound of breaking hearts
or hearts uplifted
no qupids fluttering wings.
No fights from the neighbors
no ghetto street kids acting up
no sirens screaming from an approaching cop
nobody gets locked up tonight
And silence was bestowed upon me.
No inner voice to calm myself
no desperation of a crying soul
no beats from a beating heart
just me alone from the very start.
No children play around here
the swings at the park remain still
no parents calling for their young
no child screams to answer
And silence was bestowed upon me.
desolant is the land
inwhich we stand
together but forever lost
the cost of a world united not as one
with falling fathers
and forgotten sons
as silence forms around
and the life that was is no more bound
And silence was bestowed upon me.
