Autumn Leaves

On a warm summer night
not long ago
we met by chance
who would  have known?
 how  we became
best of friends
to sneaking kisses
by the fence
summer woul'd end
class to start
after school at the park
hide and seek you and  me
underneath the autumn leaves

passing notes in study hall
window shopping at the mall
holding hands you and me
walking through the autmn leaves

senior year time for prom
time was here been so long
holding you tight
dancing slow
later that night
who would have known
how life would change
couldn't have seen
the fatal crash
my autumn leaves

all through school
were told to say no
by those who teach
while we grow
the trial begins
for counselor Reeves
being sentenced
my autumn leaves
