    By Choice

    As the seasons change
I remember who I once was
    A person trapped & caged
    My voice lost its cause

Now I fight for who is
    Rather than who was
    There's nothing that I miss
    Nothing there I trust

    People entered my life
    People are now gone
    I laid down and cried
I stood up to be strong

    I can almost reach out
I can almost feel my past
    I dug deep down
To cut away the pain fast

I am who I am today
Not by you nor by your hand
I am articulate, I am brave
I am me, I am woman

    Can't catch up to me?
    Your problem not mine
    By will I am free
    Keep your ill faded lines

    Is my style, my magic
    More than you could imagine?
    It lingered in the shadow
To let you carry the show

    Once trapped & caged
    Then I turned the page
    Followed my heart, my voice
It was then I left you by choice
