    Luke Warm Transitions

I can't remain the eternal protector
    I've lost all cause
I can no longer lay down the laws
I come forth now humbly as only your sister

For years these fingers have bled
For years I've laid out life's tools
Knowing someday a day like this would come
A day that the years have flooded with dread

Brave and sure in my own trials
Scared and uncertain for your own life's attempts
    My eyes only see innocence
    You forever as a child

Time has demanded that I give you up
    No longer in command
    Just a figure of persuasion
I deem that unjust, unfair, corrupt

Nevertheless I open your eyes to the world
    New, fresh, undiscovered
    This world
Full of promise, full of disillusion

    Extend ample steps
    Be weary of the temptations
Take tight hold of your heart
Give as little of yourself in the beginning
    To avoid the hostile intrusion

    I ate the mistakes whole
So you needn't have a taste
    So you needn't lose control

These are life's lessons for you and I
    To learn to let go
    To learn to stand tall
These will be the first years
    Of our luke warm transitions
