Darkness

Darkness

Darkness is a friend of mine
Who lurks in the shadows, silent and dangerous
Moving quickly not to be seen
Never saying a word
Her eyes glow like a wildfire at night
Her hair long and silky
Skin, soft as satin sheets
Yet her lips look like they've been longing to be kiss
Darkness is enemy of mine
But she doesn't know this
I watch her from time to time
Waiting for her to show
To slowly swallow me
With her arms wrapped tight around me
As if she's afrid to let go
Darkness is a lover of mine
One I can never lose
But will love with all my heart

Wonderful poetry embracing the darkness, i loved it for what is the light without the dark. Truely great read.

Love the descriptiveness of this poem! It's frightfully beautiful.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
