Darkness

I sit in the darkness all alone.

I can't find my way back.

How much longer will I be here like this?

All alone surrounded by the encumbering blackness.

My soul is dark,

And my heart is clouded.

I am lost in this place forever.

The darkness is closing in around me.

Soon everything will be black and cease to be.

Is there no one that can help me?

As I sit in the darkness all alone.

From the darkness usually shine the brightest light. This piece echoes some of the same feeling that most have had, but never will admit ....very nice

yes, you do write dark, but the irony is it wants to be light, loved it, very well worded. so far, i've loved what i've read so far.

Again, very simple, yet thought provoking. I like your style so far, ladynight. I am a fan of shorter poems. To me, they present greater challenges and complexity. I also like the traditional layout. I, too, am a big Edgar A Poe fan. You should try reading some of my earlier work. The structure is similar. My favorite Poet is Edwin Arlington Robinson. Look up and read Richard Cory by EAR (google it). I think you will like his style as well. Read my poem Bartholemew Dylan Banks and let me know what you think. Good read. Thanks again for sharing... K

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
