    Differently

I don’t understand why this all came to an end
    Why did you walk away?
Just when my broken heart started to mend
You found the words you’ve been meaning to say

You say that you can’t give me what I deserve
But all I’ve ever wanted is you
When you said goodbye, you hit a nerve
And everything became a lie that I thought was true

You say that we’ll make our friends feel weird
But no one has had a problem so far
You having doubts is one of the things I feared
And deep down, I guess I knew you’d leave a scar

You say you can’t be there for me
But I’m doing just fine on my own
I wish you’d just tell me if you’d rather be free
Instead, you lead me on, only to find myself alone

You say that everything happened too fast
Well, I’ll admit… I feel that way too
Still, that doesn’t mean that we will never last
I mean, I still want to be with you

You say that I’m different from other girls that you know
Still, you won’t give me even a passing glance
You’re so afraid to let your feelings show
So you refuse to give me a fighting chance

I wish I could return to the very first moment
The one where you asked if you could be mine
But that second came as fast as it went
And all of the emotion was left behind

I guess this is one battle that I can’t win
    Cause you see things differently
Now, I find myself broken all over again
But I guess that’s the way things are supposed to be!
