Why did you have to leave so soon?
Everything was going so well
Our lives seemed to dance to the same exact tune
And I was finally able to come out of my shell

I thought it would be okay if I fell for you
You made everything feel so right
But when it came time for the light to shine through
I guess you weren’t ready to put up the fight

The end came all of a sudden
It was like someone had kicked me in the chest
No one ever saw it coming
But all of a sudden, it was all laid to rest

I’ve tried so many times to understand
Still, nothing about this makes sense
We had so many special memories planned
And then they all just seemed to rinse

I really thought that you were feeling the same
But that was only judging by the look in your eye
You’re either really good at playing this game
Or you were never really planning to say goodbye

There were so many times when I had wondered
But you always said that we were okay
You always made me feel reassured
But the truth is, you had so much more to say

I wish you would’ve told me sooner
Maybe I wouldn’t have fallen so deep
Now, at least, I know for the future
Next time, I won’t climb a mountain so steep!
