The race is not given to the swift or the strong,

But to those who can endure.

The fight is tough and the road is rough

And the struggle is long, for sure.

You may not win every battle you incur;

Some of them you may even lose.

Others will leave you in a rut,

But your battles you must choose.

Not every issue is worth the time, the energy or the pain.

Not every war will turn out the way it should or could.

But you must endure the fight and you must learn to hold on;

'Cause if you give up too easily, your chances may be gone.

Learn to beat your opponent at his very own game.

You'll be surprised how much the situation will change.

Speak the truth at all times because it will help you to win.

Don't let hard times cause you strife or make you sin.

Don't let frustration or anger slow your roll.

Keep your pace. Reach your goal.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
