So many times in life, you don't get what you deserve.

You give them your all and then they shoot you a curve.

You work real hard and try to do your job well.

The next thing you know, things aren’t going swell.

When you turn right, you should have gone left.

When you bring a friend, you should have come by yourself.

You stay late to make sure the task is complete.

When you get your appraisal, it’s far less than sweet.

You try to hold it together, but you realize you've got to do better.

You keep trying to reach the goal, but somehow you're off track.

You start to feel as though you're getting your face smacked.

The harder you work, the less you're paid.

You want to leave, but you're terribly afraid.

You keep praying that one day things will change,

But everyday you come in, it's still very much the same.

You used to have friends, but now your friends you can't trust.

You can't turn your back because they're always keeping up stuff.

You're committed to everything in which you're involved.

They haven't given you a problem you couldn't solve.

But despite the mistreatment and the blatant discrimination,

You continue to thrive with great determination.

You never let up. You just don't stop plugging.

With much prayer and faith, you're going to keep on trucking.

When others throw in the towel and ask "Is it worth what I do?"

You keep your head up. You don't let your problems kick you.

You have so much invested and you've paid your dues dearly.

You may be hurting inside, but you still smile and talk cheery.

You don't let the pressures of this world keep you down.

You've never allowed them to turn you around.

You've fought for your rights and you're standing your ground.

You know it is worth it, to stay in the game.

Because one day, with God's help, you'll get what you've earned.
