Faithless soul

  • Hello fellow poets. I am originally from a very small very remote town in the woods of northern Maine. The town had a population of 560 souls.I was brought up( in what some would consider to be) abject poverty. If I was I never knew it. Simply due to the fact that everyone around me was in the same "boat".I have been writing from my teens. I enjoy the woods to this day. I hunt fish and hike whenever possible. And through the years I've learned that there is a God and that I'm not it. "SLIM"

Faithless soul

I am cursed with a faithless soul.
Insolent and foul.
Tormented through out life
By it's indignant howl.

It endures me no forbearance.
It has no will or want.
A cynical inhabitant of a
Dwelling dark and daunt.

I implore my stygian spirit
To cease it's baneful way
Alas it gives no retort
Merely tarry s in the fray.

I fear now its damnation.
But how then can I quell
My own insipid soul
Be for it lands in Hell.

Ahh, but there is a bit of faith in thine own soul or certainly why would the thoughts be entertained .. "But how then can i quell my own insipid soul before it lands in hell". There is a beckoning path recognized by few .. answers lie along this path untouched .. waiting. Great write. 9

StandingBear, Thank you for your thoughts. I have truly enjoyed reading your writings. Your poetry is inspiring!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
