Family 6/2007
Charles W. Paschal aka Raykmond aka Bullwhip

I gaze into the stars to see the future,
the facts are not so clear.
But what is seen is not so structured,
As to cause strong fear .

I find a woman I love so much,
that I kneel down and tremble.
Her love is pure and such,
as to make me strong and nimble.

I strive to perfection.
I work hard as can be.
But to offer her protection,
is my one opportunity.

I never had kids or children,
my one most sorrowful shame.
But a child of hers has clinged to me,
And love is my acclaim.

I look upon my past this night,
wondering what may be.
But to think back to my sorrowful plight,
I ask no sympathy.

Life is full of answers,
this I mostly know.
One must look upon the stars,
to find the answers that bestow.

I knock upon the door my friend,
to gain admission soon.
To that glorious lodge above,
where the Grand Master rest at noon.

The child we speak of is all right,
and her love is welcome much.
But does she know what is up tonight,
to make her love as such.

Dixie, walk the world upright,
and honor your Mom so well.
For in your heart are thoughts so right,
That make my heart so swell.

This poem touched my heart in many ways and also awoke memories of my own love lost to life's final breath. I am fortunate that the love I had with my lost one was productive by three and I have been fortunate to have been blessed with multiples of those three, my only regret is that my lost love has not been here to share the joy of these blessings with me. I am thankful and proud to have had what time was given us together as a family and have so many wonderful memories of our lives as one. The poem surely expresses your pride you too feel for what you have been blessed with in life. I enjoyed reading this poem immensely.

Family can bring strong feelings and the memories remain. These memories are to cling to when you wish to be close again.

But what is see is not so structured, Should have been, But what is seen is not so structured,

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
