    Forgiven

    I pray for the rain
    To wash away the pain
And pull away my invisible chains

    I wept inside
    For days I cried
My feelings are what I can hide
    But no one knew
My face never leaving a clue

    They say time will heal
    But not what I feel
    My fate already sealed
    This could be the end
    No more time to mend

    I pray for the rain
    To wash away the pain
And pull away my invisible chains

    I inwardly cry
    Saying my final goodbye
    I can no longer lie
    Yelling my final pleas
    I fall to my knees

    My time has come
    My pain undone
No longer can I remember the sun
    The rains fall
    I hear the final call

    I pray for the rain
    To wash away the pain
And pull away my invisible chains

    I open my eyes
Looking at what in the future lies
Seeing a glimpse of the sunrise
    I have survived
No more pain do I hide

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
