    Future Pain

she was just a little girl
her world was filled with hate.
    her father drank, her mother
just sat and watched as he caused
    her pain day after day.

she would sit in the corner
    hugging herself tight
    wishing and praying things
    would be alright.
    day after day
    she ran away trying to
    hide from her life.

    when someone saw the
    bruises and tears
    she laughed and
    said nothing was wrong
    now as an adult she
    wakes up screaming,nigh
    after night from her memories
    of past times.

now day after day she goes
    through same thing.
    this time its her husband
    that drinks. and her who
just sits and watches the pain
    he causes her daughter day
    after day

    this time its her daughter
    sitting in the corner
    hugging herself tight
    wishing and praying
things will soon be all right.

Here in this piece you show how the daughter married a man just like her father and a daughter just as herself deal with such pain, a vicious cycle that with prayer and fasting can be stopped or cured. Generational curse is what we call it, fighting the demons of our ancestors we all must learn to handle and defeat.

Things that remain the same are those things that are. very good poem and good direction, leave it as it is - it developes it's character well, as none did change did they? Good poem. Great insight.

cycles are only broken when somone loses the blind spot that comes with blaming others and not making changes in themselves to transcend the past, and not let it controll the present.. well done and well said..

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
