HELLO

Where am I going to

And where am I coming from

I saw a face yesterday

And I said to him “Hello”

In passing and frolicking along

Seeking out satisfaction

And continually I ask myself

Have I arrived

Where does the journey start

When will the journey end

In my little corner of the world

I pass the street only

Remembering to look but then

Never seeming to see

Hello!!, where am I coming from

It is a pleasure meeting you

And as I go

Greeting to never greet again

Hugging to never hug again

I realize that this simple word

Expresses the different moods we share

A word of courtesy

The greeting used by generations

And never seeming to end

Hello!!

Where am I from?

And where am I going to.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
