WHEN I GET THERE

Poem Commentary

This poem was inspired a few years ago by my thought down memory lane of all I have been able to achieve and those things that is still out of my reach. I thought of what would be my reaction if all my dreams comes to pass; hence the title when I get there.

WHEN I GET THERE

The journey started a long time ago

It has been rough and bumpy

At times I have taken side roads

But then I realize the side roads

Just make the duration of the journey longer

I have traveled far

Seeing that dim and small light

From afar and a bit out of reach

On and of my own I have tried

But my effort fails me

So now I depend solely on the One

Who has created all mankind

Thriving, working and moving ahead

Praying that one day I get there

To the top of my ladder

One thing I know though is this;

That life is meant to be lived

In the joy and believe that

My creator will not forget me

And so I will always give thanks

When I get there

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
