    HISTORY REMEMBERED

    September 11, 2001,
    the planes came down rushing,
    straight out of the sun!

    The planes were commercial,
    not suspect at all.
    The buildings they flew into,
    were standing so tall.

    The first one was rammed,
    much to America's surprise.
    And then 18 minutes later,
    another appeared in the skies.

    The second building was struck,
    the building erupting in flames.
    The nation now in horror,
    not knowing who's to blame.

    Then the word came about,
    the Pentagon had been hit.
    Who in the world,
had the nerve to attack it?

    The United States
    has been wounded,
    knocked to our knees.
    But we'll pick ourselves up,
    and deal with our enemies!

I dark day I remember too well. I appreciate your poem's straightforward, authentic tone. Measured, precise words always carry more weight (to my mind) then hysterical jingoism. Well done, B. Thanks!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
