"IF"

If this is my final chance to lay my eyes upon your face, I am grateful my vision of your smile can't be erased.

If tonight is the last time I feel the touch of your hand, I am thankful my body was caressed by such a gentleman.

If I may never again rest my head upon your chest, Then may the songs of your heart and their sweet melodies be blessed.

If we grow apart and there is no place for me in your world, maybe we'll meet in another life, you a small child and I a little girl.

If saying goodbye is to difficult to do, then instead of goodbye, I'll be seeing you.

WOW, I love, love, love this!! So eloquently written and emotions portrayed. I feel as if I am living the words written.

Thank you very much for saying so....

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
