    incomplete

    the chemical peels and botox
the standard meds and electric shocks
the balances to the left of zero
    the cinderellas without the hero
    the jone’s infinite purchasing power
the anemic soil and acid shower
    the iron shackles of capitalism
    the constant in-breeding of cynicism
    the cancerous spread of inadequacy
    the uninspired flattery
    the demand for juvenile depression
    the unkept bed of indiscretion
    the untimely death of brilliance
    the loathsome reflection’s faithful resilience

changes my rubber soles to cinder blocks
changes my luscious mane to ragged locks

    the swollen brown bellies
    the expected infidelity
    the pharmacy above my sink
the eroding link between you and i
    the obligatory hello
    the silent goodbye
the world that won’t meet me half way
the heart that stops over, but just won’t stay
    the staggered theory of relativity
    God’s growing passivity
    the constant need for need
    the voracious appetite for greed
    the resentment masked in victory
    the pleasure veiled in defeat
    leaves me feeling quite abused
    and undeniably…

I really enjoyed this piece; it is well written, original, and evocative. Thank you for sharing it. It definitely inspires me to read more of your work. Some may find it too depressing, as you stated, but I find it real and honest.

I would like to thank you for the hard work put into this powerful work. I believe that life should be a celebration. God is teaching us a great deal about how to enjoy life. Enjoyment of life is not based on enjoyable circumstances. It is an attitude of the heart, a decision to enjoy everything because everything-even little, seemingly insignificant things-have a part in the overall "big picture" of life. Great job!

I appreciate the list of convictions and concerns - your format is likened to the style that I often use, it has rhythm and flow as it states one prophetic personal point layered upon another. Well versed and highly crafted. Live strong!

Undeniably offered. You brought life to lines that could be dead. Amazingly, you have crafted a masterpiece. Great job!

Thank you so much. A few people found it too depressing, but change only comes through truth.

Put some musicians behind this and I could see this going to the Grammy's. Wonderfull, thanks for sharing.

That's so kind. I am actually working on a spoken word CD so I will keep you posted!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
