When we were little you'd come to stay
We didn't really know you, we didn't really play
I didn't understand the anger you felt
And deep in you soul where we hide all our thoughts
Were thing of a life I never felt
All you went through is clear to me now
I hope all your pain has faded away
And the rest of your life be filled
With the best of each day.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
