    Sister

    Sister

When I was born it was not alone
We shared a place in the womb
She was second only in birth
She gave me a race all through life
I miss her now more than she knows
I rarely let my feelings show
She is so special, kind and nice
    She doesn't deserve to sacrifice
I wish her well and hope that she knows
A place in my heart she always holds.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
