Light
I tuck her gently into bed, and wipe away her tears,
She's afraid there's goblins 'neath the bed,
And a closet full of bears.
Goblins are not real I say, they only live in books,
And bears live in the forest, and not in clothing nooks.
Now close those sleepy little eyes, your Dad and I are here,
And Jesus watches from above, so you have naught to fear,
Say your prayers my dear one, soon you'll see the sun,
But if you will feel safer, I'll leave the night light on.
Her world begins with daylight, where she feels safe and sure
Her fears lie in the darkness, and make her insecure.
I know they are imagined, and she thinks I'm very brave--
To shoo the goblins with my words, and make her feel so safe.
She does not know that darkness--lurks at any hour.
She does not know it lurks in sinful hearts.
She does not know that Mommy, hasn't got the power,
To shoo the real true goblins from the dark.
But I do have a light-- that guides me through the dark,
A most important light-- I'll give to her.
It will help us through our fears, and deep and darkest places,
To reach our destination, true and sure.
Our destinations Heaven, and Jesus is the light,
That guides us through this sinful veil of tears.
Though danger may beset us, He alone will lead us,
To greet us there--and wipe away our tears.
She's afraid there's goblins 'neath the bed,
And a closet full of bears.
Goblins are not real I say, they only live in books,
And bears live in the forest, and not in clothing nooks.
Now close those sleepy little eyes, your Dad and I are here,
