    MARY

There’s a girl name Mary on the side of the road

She got holes in her arms and she ain’t got no soul

She looks at the sky with tears in her eyes

The moon shines down as another star dies

She looks both ways and crosses the road in the meantime

Well she prays to god and god she prays

Prays for just maybe one sober day

to remember what life was like from another lifetime

As the cars breeze by its starts to rain

smearing her eyes making her look insane

And she does feel quite crazy

And she only prays to god in the dead of the night

cause she feels she can’t be held in his sight

And she wonders why she so cold all the time

Maybe one day she will change if someone could change her mind

And find her way back home

Well that’s how I saw her that rainy day

walking towards me smiling through the pain

I could not believe my eyes oh my god is that Mary

Well I ran to her and I held her tight and tears started flowing for my eyes

I’ll never let you go again my sweet Mary

I took her hand and I’ll never let her go and I took her home

    My sweet, sweet Mary

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
