My favorite martyrs
Thomas died the kings good servant
But Gods first
Unable to compromise his conscience
Unable to be coerced
And lost his head at the command of a friend
As a result of perjury and Cromwell’s treachery
Who ironically met with the same unjust end
Joan was the hero of Orleans
With faith unparalleled
And fought to reinstate the Dauphine
After her capture at Burgundy
Charles could not part with the means
To release his champion
So she burned as a heretic, with no sin committed
Then 27 years later posthumously acquitted
