My Third

  • I don't write in structure. I don't write often. I write when and how I feel.

My Third

I feel you moving deep inside.
Your face unclear to me.
Who are you to make yourself known in this way?
One day everyone will see.
You will be here in a few months time.
Will the rest see you...the way you will see me?
Life will be hard for I am not beloved to them.
My deepest joy will be if they will see you for you, and not for me.
A few more months and everyone will know that love happened twice.
I feel you moving deep inside,
Your face is still unclear to me.
One day everyone will know you.
A few more months then I can hold you close.
Your my third love and your fathers fourth.
I wish you to know I love you no matter who knows.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
