    No Dawn

    there he sat beside me
sharing a smile now and then
a giggle when the band was off key

he was truly one of the most beautiful men
i had ever seen in my life

what could i do to be something in his eyes
beyond that horrid reflection looking back at me

as we were leaving his hand brushed my side
i thought i would die on the spot
    and never be as thrilled

i slept in his arms that night
the last of a million times i would long for

what could i do to hide my feelings
his reasons for going i can not dispute

i want a fairy tale ending
    i scream into the night
and yet only the end comes
    with no dawn in sight
